Lake Claire is an Eastside Atlanta neighborhood. But, don’t be fooled. There is no “lake” in Lake Claire. It’s shorthand for the intersection of Lakeshore and Claire Drives. It has a diverse mix of home styles, abundant foliage, gardens and greenspaces. Lake Claire homes for sale are a mix of Revival, Victorian, and Modern styles including craftsman bungalows and 1950s cottages. It sits between Candler Park, Druid Hills, Decatur and Kirkwood in DeKalb County.
Lake Claire Neighbors (LCN)
The neighborhood association is made up of an elected executive committee and all the residents of the neighborhood. They plan neighborhood events, produce a monthly newspaper, review variances to city zoning and maintain greenspace. Overall they provide a platform to share ideas and a voice to elected representatives.
Education
While the neighborhood lies in Dekalb County, Lake Claire is zoned for Atlanta Public Schools including:
- Mary Lin Elementary School
- Samuel M. Inman Middle School
- Henry W. Grady High School
Lake Claire Community Land Trust
The “Land Trust” is a unique, 1.7 acre greenspace governed by a neighborhood-based nonprofit. Their mission is to “acquire, maintain, and protect green space for neighborhood enhancement and education”. The greenspace includes over 50 community garden beds, a playground, a boutique stage and amphitheater, a sauna, a pond and a Children’s Garden. People gather for festivals, drum circles, community work days, children’s birthday parties, and more.
Lake Claire Pool
Lake Claire Pool is a private pool with members from Lake Claire, Candler Park and surrounding communities. The pool features a state-of-the-art saltwater pool that’s gentle on the eyes, hair, skin and swim suits. There is also a Junior Olympic-sized competition pool with bench seating in the shallow end for parents and kids and a toddler pool with fountains. Fair warning: The membership is full and the waitlist is long.
