The City of Atlanta has begun providing its residents a 311 phone number for government information and non-emergency services. The goal is to make it a one-stop shop for any questions about city services, whether it’s a water bill, parking, street lights, or garbage. Residents can call the phone number for assistance Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. or go to www.atl311.com 24 hours a day. Hopefully it will make it easier to find out which department can provide help, and reduce the number of non-emergency calls that go to 911. However during emergencies the 311 operators will be also be able to support all city emergency response efforts.
